Simple script to animate canopy? was created by Vodoun da Vinci
For God's sake....does *EvErThInG* have to involve Nasal?

Is there no simple animation to animate a canopy? Help...I'm going crazy trying to reverse engineer a canopy animation and it simply does not have to involve a bunch a Nasal. Does it?

simple answer, yes, it has nasal. Doors.nas is the nasal file you want.

I think what nasal needs to be used for is the slow varying of the door property value from open (1) to closed (0) - although this could be done with a property rule as well.

The nasal can be pretty small & just attached to the key press as a script section directly rather than calling a defined nasal function

something like following (the website won't let me embed it)

www.dropbox.com/s/oly4wcg378jwwge/binding.txt?dl=0

you'll need to define the property in the set.xml first if it doesn't exist though

It doesn't have to be Nasal you can easily do this with the built in autopilot.

See Autopilot rate limit (noise-spike) filter
e.g.
<filter>
   <name>Canopy</name>
   <debug>false</debug>
   <type>noise-spike</type>
   <max-rate-of-change>0.2</max-rate-of-change>
   <input>/canopy/position-demand</input>
   <output>/canopy/position</output>
</filter>

Just add that into the autopilot xml file and adjust the rate of change as desired (it is rate of change per second).

Can you point me at an aircraft where this works? I tried to use the Grob and others - nothing works.

Thanks in advance....Richard, what does that Autopilot deal do? 'Cause I added it and it does absolutely nothing for me...

@Richard: That'S a good one.

I edited out my question about the speed of change but I found it in the docs. :) It changes the value at the set rate per second.

Took all the "stuff" out of the Grob including the keyboard bindings and doors.nas. Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the right axis settings to fold the canopy's open forward on the Bf-108. :(

I hate coding and building airplanes but love them when they are done. I'm just a *very* reluctant Developer who wants specific things so I have to learn to do it mice elf.

But at least we can see the cool stuff in the baggage compartment when the door opens behind the cockpit....

That is sooo goddam cool!
I wish my brain could cope with this coding stuff, I really want to sort out the speed brake operation on Algy's EF2000.
It's really simple to do but I can't find it any where....

Let's talk about then :) The speed brake is part of the FCS so there are a few more stages, but it should not be difficult to follow once you know where to look.
