The Belfast was developed to meet a Royal Air Force requirement for a freighter capable of carrying a wide range of military loads over long ranges. The military loads envisaged included artillery, more than 200 troops, helicopters, and guided missiles. Shorts' design was based on studies they had worked on in the late 1950s and the project started as the SC.5/10 in February 1959. From that design, the prototype Belfast first flew on 5 January 1964.

This is Dave Culp's A-29B model, modded to provide another variant., the Short S-312B Tucano T1, used by the RAF as a flight trainer.
There are slight differences between the original Dave Culp Embraer A-29B Tucano and the licensed Short version, more notably around the engine cowling and exhaust nozzles. Credits to Simon for cutting the model and relocating these.
The livery is a standard RAF black paint as used for this type, and has ben bumpmapped.

This version for FlightGear is currently a Beta version. The external model is visually good and the cockpit instrumentation is reasonable although missing some elements - it will be completely redone in Canvas following the flightgear update in 2018
The Flight characteristics are realistic and it can be flown quite effectively by the numbers.
