Test flight . H135 in MSFS

You are correct. Although the MS fanboys think its the key to Realistic  Heli simulation  in MSFS 2020, just as its predecessor HTR was in FSX ( which doesnt make the Flight any  more real  ether, it just changes it a bit ). I have that as well for FSX.

If you are interested in a comparison, I have attached a quick and dirty R44 FDM   update for the FG  R44 Raven ( not the clipper ). Stick  movements ,  cyclic response and tail  response all corrected. No overspeed vibration   or fancy stuff, its just a quick  fix.

Compare that with the other R44 offerings.

Good thread. I was considering to buy MSFS just to try the damn chopper.

I definitely wouldn't buy it just to try the H135

MSFS is ok - as far as I can tell it's most annoying issue (other than just how big the download is) is that by default it would turn on all assistance options, making it feel very unrealistic.

The freely available version of the H135 itself is pretty awful

I have bought a couple of recommended aircraft & tried some free ones to see how they compare. The paid ones are good, the free ones - well lets say FG wins on the quality of free stuff - nice model & textures doesn't make up for crap in everything else

What I don't see much of in MSFS is teams of people making free aircraft, perhaps it's a time thing in that it hasn't existed long enough for the community to build up enough & transfer over experience from P3D etc

I'm looking forward to PBR based stuff appearing in FG + the new world terrain engine

is the pbr stuff in the nightly builds?

The HDR pipeline is in fgdata now apparently, but it only works with next & WS 3.0:

--compositor=Compositor/HDR/hdr

From memory to use PBR effects natively you need to use glTF v 2.0 models as I don't think AC3D format can do it. Going back to Fernandos post it looks as though the pipeline translates existing effects to HDR, but some effects may not translate well

So were going to have to   replace every ac model to use it!?  Thats not a small not quick  update.

You can do a quick test to check out the HDR pipeline from the commandline with fgfs --launcher --compositor=Compositor/HDR/hdr selecting an aircraft & starting up on the Vinson as it's far enough from the shore

Not all of the shaders are handled yet & there are no menus - I think because the menu system needs fixed function & HDR requires GL3 which has no fixed function

For some reason if I look in the wrong direction I get a crash - maybe theres terrain in that direction (I haven't disabled my scenery)
